The corona incidence in Schleswig-Holstein continues to rise after the downward trend in the past week. It was 457.7 on Thursday after 369.5 the day before, according to information from the state registration office (as of 6:32 p.m.). A good week earlier, the number of new infections registered per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days on Wednesday was 420.7; on Thursday – Ascension Day – no figures had been reported. For the federal territory, the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave the value on Thursday as 221.4.

However, the incidence does not provide a complete picture of the infection situation. Experts have been assuming for some time that there will be a large number of cases not recorded by the RKI – mainly because not all infected people have a PCR test done. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics. In addition, late registrations or transmission problems can lead to a distortion of individual daily values.

2,924 new cases were reported for Schleswig-Holstein on Thursday, compared to 2,346 the day before and 2,176 on Wednesday last week. According to the RKI, the country still has the highest seven-day incidence in a country comparison.

According to the reporting office, 224 Covid patients were treated in the hospitals, 13 fewer than on Wednesday. 17 corona patients remained in the intensive care unit, 8 of whom (Wednesday: 7) were ventilated. The total number of people who have died in connection with a corona infection in the country since the beginning of the pandemic has increased by one to 2547. According to the information, 683,100 people have recovered since then.

The number of new corona sufferers admitted to hospitals per 100,000 inhabitants within a week – the hospitalization incidence – remained constant on Thursday compared to the previous day at 2.44.

The districts of Rendsburg-Eckernföde (590.0) and Segeberg (502.1) reported the highest seven-day incidences. The Duchy of Lauenbuerg had the lowest value with 371.1.
