We all know a few people who used to be faithful Christians. Funny thing is that you do not wake up one morning and choose start moving away from God.

Unfortunately, moving away from God can happen to anyone. You can easily drift away until you have forgotten about Christ and His teachings. Gracefully, you can surely come back to the love of Christ.

But before fixing a problem, it is essential to recognize the issue. By understanding the problem and how it started, you can easily fix it. Here are 10 signs you are moving away from God.

10 Signs you are moving away from God

1. Pride (Proverbs 16:18)

One sign of moving away from God and the main destruction of a Christian is the sin of pride. When pride gets into your life, you create a wall between yourself and God.

Pride starts when you start denying the wrongdoings, lie, fail to forgive, and when you do not confess your sins. But through humility and asking God for forgiveness, we can be able to overcome pride.

2. Worshiping idols (1 Corinthians 10:14)

Anything that does take God’s place is a sign you are moving away from Him. Many things in life can turn you into idol worshiping. Some are money, careers, and relationships. Hence, do not allow something to take the place of God in your life.

3. Neglecting quiet time (Psalms 1:1-2)

Quiet time is setting time to seek God and this goodness. If you do not have time to worship and praise Jesus, it means you are moving away from God. If work or business takes over your life, it is hard to pray or read the word of God.

4. Lack of church attendance

You may miss going to church due to illness or other duties, but the more you miss church, then you are moving away from God.

Church attendance is an opportunity to seek and worship God. It is also an opportunity to connect with others in fellowship.

Although virtual church services are helpful to many people, attending church is essential. You will have a chance to fellowship, and it is not easy to slip or fall away from Christ.

5. Lack of passion to save the lost (Luke 19:10)

God loved the world that He gave His only Son so that we may not perish. It is through God’s grace that you and I are saved. Thus, if you do not have the zeal to save others, you are not moving in the right direction.

6. Believing Satan’s defamation

Satan is full of lies. And in many cases, he will always remind you of the past instead of the future. So, if you do not want to move away from God, do not listen to the evil spirits. The bible says that if Satan reminds you of your past, remind him of his future.

7. Serving God with wrong motives

Do you serve in your church so that you can gain people’s love and approval? Then you are wrong and this can make you move away from God. Keep in mind that God knows our innermost heart and we cannot fool Him. Therefore, we should serve out of love.

8. You are not willing to discuss your Faith

Christians should never be ashamed of their Faith. Hence, you should always be willing to discuss your Faith with anyone. If you used to be happy and willing to share about Jesus with other people, but you do not feel it anymore, you are moving away from God.

9. You find the Bible boring

Some people complain that the Bible is a difficult book to read. However, it is an enjoyable book if you can only give it a chance. But if you find reading the bible boring, you are slipping away from Christ.

Keep in mind that the Bible is the Word of God. If you cannot find enjoyment in the bible, pray so that the Holy Spirit can help you.

10. You do not pray like before

The cornerstone of the Christian life is prayer. Hence, if prayers are no longer part of your life, you are moving away from God. Lack of prayer means you do not want to have a relationship with God.

Never be ashamed to pray, never be too proud to pray, and never be too busy to pray. Better pray short prayers more often than never pray at all.
